Summer Decor for Your Windows

flowers in windowSummertime is a time to enjoy the season’s extra sunlight, and this means you’ll probably be adjusting your window treatments to let in as much of that bright sunlight as possible. This makes window decorations a great way to celebrate summer—you’ll always be able to see them. Here are some creative ways to decorate your windows during the summer months.

Window planter box

A planter box for the window can be adapted to any season and is an especially great way to celebrate the sunny, plant-friendly weather of summer. Consider installing a planter box outside of your front or back windows; all you need is a weather-proof wall shelf and a suitably sized planter box. Such a box can be filled with seasonal flowers, with a variety blooms for interest. A planted box that is overflowing with colorful blooms makes for an especially stunning statement piece of decor for your windows.

Starfish on the windowsill

This small decorative piece for the window is especially popular in beachside communities because of the high availability of starfish in souvenir shops. For some beachside neighborhoods it’s even tradition. Simply place a starfish on either your windowsill or on the small ledge stretching across the middle of the window.

Small wreaths

A wreath can always be customized to suit the season, and smaller wreaths can be hung on the windows of a front porch to make the space more inviting. All you’ll need to hang your wreath are clear, self-adhesive hooks to stick on the outside of your windows. For a wreath that screams summer, try using light, vibrant colors, strategically placed flowers, or fresh-looking citrus accents. You could also go for a red, white, and blue color palette for July 4th or incorporate seashells and anchor accents for a nautical theme.

Stained Glass Accents

You may not have stained glass windows, but small stained glass accents hung on the window pane are a great way to take advantage of the bright sunlight that summertime offers. You’ll enjoy beautiful, colorful sunlight streaming into your home all summer long.

Painted Art

With your children spending more time at home during the summer, you’ll need quite a few fun activities planned to help keep them entertained. Window painting or finger painting is a fun way to get your children involved in your home’s summer decor. Just be sure to select a paint that is safe for windows and offers easy clean-up.
